Subject: Where Can I get Help! Needed badly!
Hi, I am trying to set up a charity which will help raise funds for students to study in the UK. At present I have been quoted £5,000 to just set up the Charity through the Charity commission is there anyone out there that an help here? I am sure its not that complicated and someone out there can help pro-bono for now at least until funds come in?

money2study, I think your best bet would be to contact the Charity Commision directly and see what help they can offer you with registering your organisation. Hopefully they will be able to guide you through the process without you needing to pay the £5,000 you were quoted.

Thank you, will give them a call, did use their site earlier and downloaded form etc, however was told that I should use a lawyer to set it up properly as it's an educational charity being set up and should be done properly etc.

Hi money2study, I have been in touch with Law Works a charity offering free legal help to individuals and community groups who are unable to pay for it or are unable to access legal aid.
They have recommended you get in touch with Peter Korn email: peter@interfacelegal.co.uk in their Legal Advisory Service who can assist with setting up charities.

Hi Tom,
Just to give you some feedback for your readers following on this thread.. I made contact with Peter from Interface legal, from start to finish he was brilliant! Thank you again for your recommendation.
I am pleased to say we were awarded our Charity status and have a site uploaded for people to see, whilst we develop our final version. www.2studyfoundation.org is now live, this site is flash based, so I am sorry to say you cannot see it on APPLE based products for now. The new site will be compatible with all tech!
Peter, also managed to save us so much money, that compared to the other legal firms we were talking to, so from the Charity and it's Trustee's 'thank you again;.
