Hi,
I am setting up a governing body for cheerleading in Northern Ireland, as there isnt one. It must be not for profit, as agreed by the International Cheer Unions code of ethics.
I literally have no idea where to start. I have a name, and a logo, and it will probably start of very small and grow into something wonderful over the years.
Main aims are to increse knowledge in coaches and cheerleaders in Northern Ireland, offer camps, clinics and competitions, and eventually enter a National Team into Worlds.
I have no fuinding, and no money to do this. I know i am, asking a lot, but i have been to 4 different organisations in Belfast for help, and because I want it not for profit, they wont help me!
All i need to do is make sure i am legally sound to call myself an organisation.
Hi crazyweecheerleader,
Sounds like a really exciting idea! Have you contacted the European Cheer Union? Hopefully they can offer you some support and advice.
You could also try Law Works, they offer free specific legal advice online.
Finally communityni might be able to help, they have lots of groups and members who might be able to help.
Good luck with everything and please let me know how you get on.
Hi crazyweecheerleader,
How are you getting on with setting up the governing body? Do let us know how it's going.
We've just launched a new training course on setting up a charity you may find useful. The trainer started her own, now quite large, charity out from scratch as well so you'll probably recognise a lot of what she talks about.
Hope it helps!
