Merton Unity Network is a "collective voice" for Merton's Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.   MUN provides culturally appropriate support tailored to the needs of BME groups to enable them to maximise and sustain the services they provide to their communities.

The Network

 Established in 1994, the Network represents a "collective voice" for Merton's black and minority ethnic communities - their views, experiences and support needs.

Vision

Merton Unity Network’s vision is:

‘Valuing diversity and working in partnership to strengthen the bonds of humanity and encourage greater participation in all aspect of community life.’

Aims and Objectives

  • To work in partnership with all sectors at the local level to promote a culturally diverse community and the general well being of Merton's BME community

  • To bring member groups together to pool resources and to take part in all aspect of community life

  • To assist member-groups' development by promoting, supporting, protecting, preserving good public health, education and training, and enabling access to funding and other services;

  • To respond to specific requests of member groups, particularly in relation to research.

What we do?

Merton Unity Network focuses on the 'bigger and more strategic' issues, exploring how these are likely to impact upon member organisations and how they can respond.

The Network understands the complex and continuously changing environment of the voluntary sector, hence its commitment to working in partnership with the statutory, voluntary and business sectors to tackle the issues around development and sustainability of BME Groups. The Networ places emphasis on reducing isolation and exclusion of BME groups in the London Borough of Merton.
