This one day course will provide you with a better understanding of how people learn, and how to make learning a much more dynamic and creative journey. A creative facilitator can accommodate the different learning styles of individuals, making the subject matter, or project of interest, both comprehensible and engaging. Creative Facilitation, therefore, is a key element to a providing a constructive and fulfilling learning experience whether participants want to work with groups of children for an arts-based project, or just want to learn how to share their knowledge and practical skills with others.

The Training Course Covers

  • Communicating effectively
  • Presentation skills
  • Behaviour management
  • Learning styles
  • Working with others
  • Delivering activities

Participants will engage in creative activities designed to encourage them to reflect on experiences with facilitators they have worked with. Through the use of learning tools such as worksheets, delivering short presentations and group work, participants are encouraged to define, practice and think about facilitation creatively, with a focus on identifying personal learning styles, presentation skills and behaviour management. The course is designed and delivered by experienced youth arts practitioners who have a wide range of excellent skills, experience and understanding developed whilst working within the Youth Arts sector.

Aims of Creative Facilitation

To give participants a greater understanding of the role and skills of a facilitator.

Learning Outcomes of Creative Facilitation

  • Participants will learn about the role of the facilitator and put it into context in relation to their own experiences.
  • Participants will be introduced to different learning styles and develop an understanding of these.
  • Participants will explore the communication techniques used when facilitating a group, and through creative methods will experience using these.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to prepare and deliver a short presentation, enabling them to practice their facilitating skills.
  • Participants will examine examples of difficult behaviour and identify possible solutions.
