The ACEVO - “Win-Win” Model in partnership with Zurich
Background
“the public sector is sadly stunted by poor commissioning – and it is the third sector that suffers the most” Stephen Bubb – Chief Executive ACEVO
Despite The Compact, commissioning can often feel like a fraught process where the other organisation holds all the aces! This often leaves parties to walk away from negotiations with a sinking feeling that perhaps we could have done better? Hardly a good way to begin a long term delivery arrangement!
In commissioning, good negotiation skills can often be the difference between success and failure!
Negotiating is something that we all do everyday. Its importance in commissioning cannot be overstated. Good negotiations can often build powerful relationships and partnerships. Despite this, many people struggle to master the basics. This can be coupled with the feeling that third sector organisations have only a limited room to negotiate with often more powerful adversaries!! For anybody working in the third sector, negotiation skills are a vital prerequisite for success.
This one day course seeks to provide you with a combination of practical skills, a pragmatic model and knowledge to conduct successful negotiations in a Commissioning environment. The course is based on principles outlined in ACEVO “Win-Win” guide coupled with practical tips and skills to ensure you will succeed.
The course itself is highly interactive and will give you the opportunity to relate the principles and skills to your own organisation.
