Overview
This informal lunch with Peter Wanless will be an excellent opportunity to hear from and direct questions at a leading grant maker about the direction of the grant making sector, what shape it should take and where its priorities should lie.
The economic climate has posed a number of difficulties for the grant making community, with the downturn squeezing their income and causing a rise in demand for their products. This lunch will address key questions such as:
- How can grant makers ensure that their capital is used as effectively as possible and what this means given the rise in methods of financing (e.g. social impact bonds)?
- As we move towards outcomes based contracts to deliver public services, what role could and should the grant making sector look to fulfil?
- Where does grant making sit in the Big Society agenda, particularly given the coming round of public spending cuts?
- How can grants most effectively be used in supporting a professional, transparent and accountable sector?
The lunch will be also be a great opportunity to network with peers in a relaxed environment.
