As we approach the autumn the Government’s priorities will become clearer. This conference will be a really important time for us to get together to ensure we help to shape and deliver the Big Society agenda.

You’ll benefit from

1. Hearing from high profile keynote speakers who will help you to explore the most important issues of the day:

  • Sir Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of NCVO and Alex Whinnom, Director of GMCVO will focus on how we can harness our knowledge, passion, innovation and resilience so that we can improve the long term prospects for all the people we work for and with.
  • Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council will deliver the closing keynote address. He understands and values the contribution of the voluntary and community sector, and shares the sector’s pride in the strong local tradition of voluntary action, volunteering and philanthropy.
  • Fajer Rabia will share and discuss her experiences in running the community organisation Inspired Sisters, a multi-cultural learning and resource centre supporting women from BME backgrounds. She will focus on how the community is faring in the current climate and what we can learn from their organisation.

2. Choosing two focused workshops that best suit your needs on the topics that matter to you most.

Find out how you can

  • measure your organisation’s social value
  • use new media for effective campaigning
  • realistically prepare for the cuts, taking a proactive approach based on meaningful scenarios.

Explore and discuss

  • the changing landscape of need in the UK and its implications for future funding
  • the role of community and social enterprise in growing the Big Society
  • how local government is changing and how this will impact their relationship with our sector
  • the impact off the change in government on equality and human rights agenda.

3. Make important new contacts as you network with up to 250 sector colleagues from across the country and meet voluntary and community groups who face the same challenges that you do. All delegates are warmly invited to stay for the post-conference drinks reception.
