Trainer: Wendy Blake Ranken (Fellow, CIPD), author of Good Guide to Employment: Managing & Developing People in Voluntary and Community Organisations. Wendy has over 20 years experience working in HR and was previously the head of HR at a large voluntary sector organisation in the UK, and is now a consultant. What will the two-day HR Masterclass include?

Day 1: Redundancy & restructuring

  • Avoiding redundancy
  • Legal elements of redundancy
  • Planning a restructure, including drafting a consultation document and taking account of the impact on your staff
  • Altering employment contracts and changing job descriptions
  • Identifying and avoiding key pitfalls to the process

Now that you understand how to manage and implement restructuring; what do you do with the staff who have ‘survived’ these changes?

How can you motivate them? How can you continue to have high performance?

Day 2: Managing staff performance

  • Understand what motivates your staff
  • Identify reasons for poor performance
  • What next? Manage poor performance effectively
  • Performance planning – what it is and how to do it
  • Coaching your staff towards higher performance
  • Developing the right appraisal process for your organisation.
