Social investment is a buzzword in the sector at the moment but how to ensure that your charity is able to take advantage of this potential income stream?

This session will look at:

  • The basic principles of good social investment (distinguishing between social investment and revenue);
  • The different financing options available to charities from specialist banks, social investors and social investment funds;
  • Financial instruments (grant, debt, equity, quasi-equity, underwriting) and how charities have used loans;
  • Getting the right financial management systems in place.

Delegates will be given the opportunity to pose questions to the speaker’s panel following short presentations. This seminar will be useful to those looking to develop their organisations use of innovative funding streams or enter into the world of social finance.

The panel:

Paul Cheng, Director at CAF Venturesome - Paul will be looking at matching financial mechanisms to your funding needs, different organisational models and the difference between revenue and capital.

Geetha Rabindrakumar, Director of Finance at Scope - Geetha will be talking about using social investment for tangible assets and the new social impact bonds issued by Scope.

Richard Kramer, Turning Point - Richard will discuss how Turning Point have used social investment to finance change and develop Connected Care.
