Suicide and Risk Assessment - An introduction

This training is an introduction to working with people who present a risk to themselve; and to the core components of 'risk assessment'. The course will help to improve your confidence managing risk and carrying out risk assessments.

This course will help you to:
- Have a greater understanding of local suicide risk factors
- Improve your confidence around managing risk within the context of your own role - 'knowing when to be concerned and what to do with that concern’
- Use local media examples to understand risk factors that have contributed to people's deaths
- Understand service user experience of accessing help when in crisis both in primary care and secondary care mental health service settings
- Promote services that have a role to play in helping people in crisis and at risk
