This course explores various definitions of eating disorders, identifies their causes and effects, highlights the recovery process and explores techniques in working with ambivalence. It also describes the different ways in which carers adopt coping strategies and provides information about eating disorder services in Sheffield.

This course will help you to:
- Understand the full range of eating disorders, their causes and effects and how they are diagnosed
- Understand that eating disorders are not about food, they are about feelings
- Understand the process of recovery in relation to eating disorders
- Acquire working knowledge of the Maudsley model of change, and basic skills in motivational interviewing
- Identify relevant treatments and services, particularly services provided by SYEDA
