There seem to have been a spate of adverts on the TV and radio recently by companies (including Royal Mail in their Simply Drop campaign) offering money for your old mobile. Is this affecting anyone's fundraising in this area? What are you doing to combat this?

I think that people just don't realise that these ads are misleading.  They show someone getting £100 for a phone when the average that people get is about £10.  I've just put a collection box for phones and ink cartridges in the reception area and drawn the attention of all the staff to it.  I have put a big poster on the front of the box to explain how much we get from the cartridges and phones and how the money will be used.  So far I have had a promise of at least 7 phones just from staff!!  Its a hard one really, but I think the way i am dealing with it is by saying that anyone might get a tenner for their phone but look at what I could do with that tenner for our charity!  Seems to be working!!
