About Focus on the Child

Focus on the Child is a national charity running residential homes for children aged 5-18 with learning difficulties. Focus on the Child has a network of 10 other sites throughout the UK. Its head office is in London.

The Millcaster branch has operated as a residential home since 1988 and was taken over by Focus on the Child in 1999.

The home provides care and support services 24-hours a day, 7 days a week to 12 children. 50 staff work in the home, many on shifts.

The office is staffed by 10 people who manage the home and work on fundraising, HR and administration.

Focus on the Child is a well known organisation in Millcaster and has a good reputation. The home has open days and holds fundraising events which are well attended by the local community. Several of the children being cared for are from local families.
