In the latest Millcaster Tale, Jim's suggestion that the Mill Pot Cafe could become a Social Enterprise passes Greg by as he worries about his mounting problems. But is it a good idea? Under what circumstances should businesses be considering becoming Social enterprises and what would they have look at first in order to do so?
Social or not, the problems which face MPC need addressing. The social option does not make the issues of youngsters (in the wrong place at the wrong time as far as the caff is concerned) and its environmental health issues go away.
Here SE cannot be the answer to the questions of how to manage MPC. Greg needs help and he needs time and capacity to get on top of what he needs to do to run a business.
Of course by asking from help from his community he may get the help he needs, he may get answers to questions about turning young people into allies or at least not the enemy. He may get support with managing a healthy catering business.
When he's got this sorted then he might want to consider involving the community in much more...
