New-look homepage
06 Apr 2009 by WEditor
KnowHow gets a face-lift!
We've redesigned the homepage so it is more community-based and less corporate.
What we changed
- Site statement - we've added a clear explanation of what and who the site is for at the top of the page.
- Recent contributors - see who has recently added content or started or joined a discussion. Click on the photos to find out more about the person and follow links to the contributions they've made.
- Latest on the site - see a list of all the recent pages, discussions, events added to the site. Each item is labelled with a short description of what it is.
- Quick links - we've brought these up the page so they are more prominent. These links will change depending on the most used pages on the site.
- Why should I register - find out about the features of KnowHow.
And...
- Throughout the site you can now tag and share the page through Twitter, Digg, Reddit, Delicious and StumbleUpon.
- Just for humanity's sake, we've added pictures of people posting discussion points.
Why we've changed
We wanted to create a site that is friendly, reliable and approachable. By making it centred around the community of people who use and contribute to it, we hope we are helping to achieve this. Our old homepage was fine for the early days of the site but now there is more content, discussion and people using it, we wanted to change focus.
