You could set up a Wordpress site? Many charities have done this. Although Wordpress sites are blogs, they can work just as well as a website. They are free and you can customise them to look how you want.

Depends what you want your site to do in addition to having basic online presence?

I'm looking for free website hosting for charities - I have a web-building company who are building our website but wanted to get the site hosted for free - any recommendations?

Just checked out www.dodaan.com but there is something slightly odd about the website - for example, the UK is not on the list of countries to select where your charity is based?  The 'English' used in the content is also slightly odd...Is it a legitimate operation?

What I have researched is a means in which to associate your non profit organization with an international organization, and this affords you an opportunity to not only increase your internet footprint, but also provides a means in which to raise unlimited funds while affording your donors and volunteers a valuable option of benefits worth thousands of dollars at the same time.

Having been involved as a non profit fundraiser for years, and knowing that that the industry is suffering through this recession like everyone is, and volunteers are more difficult to recruit, donors are less likely to purchase over priced products as they would in good economic times, this People Helping People Free Membership is the solution which rewards all members, as well as volunteers.

With a free member option, and a free website which you can place your fundraisers name or cause at top of page, you can get your site indexed very quickly in search engines by association. Think of this as a cooperative fundraiser site with many valuable benefits which will attract thousands of donors for your fundraiser automatically tracking each member and donation, no more selling useless overpriced items no one wants or can afford in most cases.  This is the solution to all your funding needs, and it is all automated with no cost or obligation. Register as free member to learn more.
