Sorry to interrupt…

We are a charity website still in development and you could really help by telling us what you think of the site. Once you have had a chance to see the site, would you take part in a very short, confidential survey? You just have to click Launch Survey (it will open in a new window). Thank you very much.

External environment analysis

by carolinecopeman last modified 12 Feb 2010 10:06 AM

Looking outside your organisation ensures that you can take maximum advantage of opportunities and minimise threats.

There are a wide range of major forces and trends in our external environment. It makes sense to invest time in thinking about their potential future impact both in the short and long term. It's also often helpful to consider what other players in your market are doing, and what your relationship with them might be.

Long term sustainability comes from an ability to balance two things: the ability to anticipate likely future events and the ability to deal with realities emerging from the day to day.
