Sorry to interrupt…

We are a charity website still in development and you could really help by telling us what you think of the site. Once you have had a chance to see the site, would you take part in a very short, confidential survey? You just have to click Launch Survey (it will open in a new window). Thank you very much.

Implementing strategy

by carolinecopeman last modified 12 Feb 2010 10:06 AM

Strategy is nothing without implementation!

Successful implementation is about managing strategic change and getting buy-in, ensuring everyone in the organisation is delivering the strategy in their day-to-day work. There are a number of approaches and tools to help get buy-in and align the organisation behind the strategy.

Linking strategy with the day-to-day

Building a link between strategy and delivery is vital. This McKinsey article 'Organising for value' explores some of the challenges presented in larger 'divisional' structures.  Though written using examples from corporate USA you can translate it into valuable learning for UK voluntary and community sector.

If you're interested in the experience of others trying to build links between strategy and the day to day operation, why not look at the interview with Steve Vaid, Chief Executive of King's College Students' Union.  Steve outlines his approach and offers examples of the KCLSU strategy tree and operating plan.
