Hiya,
I have just stumbled on this forum through a link through Twitter and I thought that there might be some people here that can help me. I'm brand new in a charity PR Officer role for a small charity that supports a special care baby unit in the South East of England, I am the only employee and the position has been vacant for some months. I need some help with training and PR strategy, there is no one here that can really help; the board is mostly made up of medical professionals so their knowledge is really very limited when it comes down to PR. Where would be my best place to start? Who can I go to for help and advice? Or even is there anyone?
Many thanks for any help or advice you can offer,
Linz.
It's a video course in four bite-sized parts and you can watch the first two minutes of each video for free. I'll also get in touch with the trainer of the course, Gill Dandy - she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and chairs Fifth Estate, the network for PR in the voluntary sector. She might have some more advice for you. Good luck!
Hi Linz I Chair Fifth Estate which is the PR group in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations that was set up to help people just like you. If you go to the CIPR website www.cipr.co.uk you will find lots of help and support for people working in PR and if you then search for Fifth Estate you will find some charity specific info too. Much of this info is available to non members but if you join you can get access to loads of member advice and support too. They also run training courses in fact there is one on 9th February especially for people like you - PR in the NFP sector. Also you can contact me directly at fifthestate@cipr.co.uk. There are also regional CIPR groups listed on the website so you might find some more support locally. Do get in touch
