I received an email today offering free job advertising for charities during 2009. Visit www.CivilSocietyJobs.co.uk for more information.

Thanks for sharing this. The site is from Plaza Publishing. Charities who subscribe to any of their magazines can post information about job vacancies on the site, free of charge.

Interesting I guess that means it's not really free for most recruiters then. We run a number of jobsites for which we do charge we have avoided offering a free service because there is then no money to provide good user experinece and to promote the service to high quality applicants. There are numerous free recruitment sites on the market but rarely do they deliver the quality of canadidate that charities deserve.

Hello,

I work at Plaza Publishing and am responsible for www.CivilSocietyJobs.co.uk.  I’m really pleased that people are discussing the new site and the benefits it offers to the sector.

It is true that job posting during 2009 is free for charities that have a subscription to a Plaza publication.  Plaza currently has 17,000 subscribers and free job posting is a substantial benefit to all of these organisations.

If a charity does not have a subscription it is possible to pay £100 to post a job or they can simply buy a subscription and benefit from unlimited access to the site.  UK subscriptions for charities (including unlimited jobs postings during 2009) cost £145 (governance up to 5 copies for trustees), £97 (Charity Finance), £89 (Professional Fundraising) or just £39 (Civil Society IT).

Clearly it is better value to subscribe to a quality magazine and get free job postings plus you can save even more money by taking a two year subscription!

It is too early to demonstrate that quality candidates are using the site but it is extremely likely considering that Civil Society Jobs provides the recruitment function on the following websites that are highly respected and have well established pools of users.  In total they attracted over 26,000 unique visitors during February 09.

If anyone would like to discuss it in more detail please feel free to reply to this post or contact me directly on 020 7819 1200 or phil@plazapublishing.co.uk

Thanks,

Phil

Apologies for the double post but there is no edit function and I forgot to mention that this offer is not limited to registered charities

If you run a social enterprise or a CIC or similar non-profit distributing company then please do get in touch.

All you need is a subscription to benefit.

Phil

I'd also like to point people to www.communityni.org where non profit organisations can advertise their vacancies for free, although our members and readers are for the most part in Northern Ireland.

Hi all,

thanks for your suggestions. Have a look at our new finding a job page which lists many of the job sites as well as sources of application and interview support. If there are other jobs and application websites you find useful, please suggest them here.

Hi all, I would like to point people to www.charitycomms.org.uk  where not for profits can also advertise their job vacancies for free, just click on the jobs section and send the relevant info required to the email address listed.

Great - thanks Christina. Have added that site to the find a new job page.

Please keep the recommendations coming. What other vacancy sites do you use? Are there sites which you have found useful to help with your CV or interview skills? Share them here and I'll add them to the page.

Take a look at the innovative www.spanglejelly.org.uk for free advertising of trustee and volunteer vacancies and "pay for worth" advertising of paid positions. This site has just expanded nationally and is run by a charity for charity!

You will find the increase in free services for charities as we find this trend in society as a whole. Charities should actively look for and take advantage of available free services.

Charity Job posting is free at www.charityJOB4u.co.uk - you don't have to buy anything and can have a secured home page for your charity.

Hi everyone,

Just to flag it, you can actually advertise your jobs for FREE on the KnowHow site in our new jobs board area http://www.knowhownonprofit.org/lab/jobs

This is currently in our 'lab' for testing so any feedback you have for us when trying to upload your jobs please reply to this thread or email knowhow@city.ac.uk

Thanks,

Damien
