Subject: Just a day-job?

Is working or volunteering for a nonprofit a vocation or a day-job?

Based on no scientific evidence I have noticed that a lot of people who work for nonprofit organisations seem to do additional nonprofit work. Have you set up your own nonprofit or are on the board of another? Do you regularly donate time or money to other organisations? Or is the busy day-job enough?

Hi.

For me personally it is more than a day-job.

I work full-time for a non-profit and am about to become a trustee for another.

On a volunteer basis I also participate in regular fundraising events for a range of non-profits and help organise other fundraising events for a different group of non-profits.

I think there is something to be said for the mind-set of those who are really into the non-profit world. Again, no scientific evidence, but I would agree with your general theory.

Teresa
